Technical insight

This painting is done using a reference picture of Yosemite waterfall. I chose the medium of oil as I wanted to have the texture of waves on the canvas. I started the painting with base color layering, followed by detailed colors and highlights, ended with revision and correction of the tones.

Subject is the brightness of the waterfall along with the random but directional motion of water which is achieved by thick impressionistic strokes.

Emphasis is on the live effect of motion in flowing water after the fall and not so much on accuracy of the tones of waves.
